Three Bone Chilling Cocktails Perfect For Halloween

Three Bone Chilling Cocktails Perfect For Halloween

We're all about having a good time at the bar, especially during Halloween. But these cocktails are much more ghoulish when you add a dash of mystery. Why? Because we don't play by the rules. Halloween is a time for mischievous fun, and these cocktails embody that perfectly!

Starting off with a modern classic:

SMOKEY PENICILLIN

The smokiness of the peaty and potent Laphroaig® Whisky and the tang of spicy ginger, zesty lemon and sweet honey come together with Ledaig 10 year to create the perfect evening in your mouth.

  • 2 oz Ledaig 10 year (we are doubling down on the smoke for Halloween!)
  • ¾ oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz Honey-Ginger Syrup*
  • ¼ oz Laphroaig® Select
  • Garnish: Candied Ginger

Combine the whisky, syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker and fill three-quarters full with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass over fresh ice. Put a little bit of Laphroaig on top of the drink.

Spooky Penicillin

For those who want spirit forward:

MOON COCKTAIL

Gin and Sherry perfectly balance in this spirit forward cocktail! The peach liqour adds a juicy, sweet note that melds well with the honey. Adding a smokey aroma (we used Bourbon Oak Woodchips) ups the creep factor.

  • 2 oz Plymouth Gin
  • ¾ oz Lustau Amontillado Sherry
  • 1 Barspoon of Peach Liqour
  • ¼ oz Honey Syrup*
  • Lemon Twist

Combine all the Gin, Sherry, Peach Liqour and Syrup into a mixing beaker. Add ice until contents are chilled. Next, smoke your glass (we choose Oak), with your Smoking Saucer. Double strain your stirred cocktail into the smoked glass. Add a quick twist of lemon, then discard it. You are looking just to add the oils from the rind. No garnish neccessary.

For those who love to riff on classics:

THE DEVILS MARGARITA

This devilish twist on the classic Margarita incorporates a Red Wine float (always so fun to do!) adds a depth of colour and flavour. We suggest using a dark fruit forward Cabernet Sauvignon. Skip the traditional Agave syrup as well, you really want the rest of the ingredients (Tequila, Lime Juice and Wine) shine.

  • 1 1/2 oz unaged Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz of Lime Juice, freshly squeezed
  • ¾ oz simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz red wine
  • Garnish: lime wheel

First, smoke your glass on Hickory smoke! It adds a spicy note, reminiscent of Mezcal. Next, add your Tequila, lime juice and simple syrup into a boston shaker. Add ice to your shaker tin and shake the ingredients until contents are combined and chilled (about 15 seconds). Strain your mixed ingredients into the smoked glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

*Note: don't rim your glass with salt. The salt doesn't combine well with the acidity of the wine.
